Collaborative research may involve a wide range of individuals and groups. In Co-create a research project, we focus primarily on prospective partnerships between academic researchers and four key societal groups: artists and creative practitioners, citizen groups, enterprise, and the voluntary sector (including non-governmental/non-profit organisations). Given the complex assortment of societal partners with a potential interest in transdisciplinary research, the focus in this first version of the toolkit is slightly more on what researchers need to know about working with societal partners, but we anticipate that those based in such organisations will also be interested in the goals below.
